Auf Eis und Schnee ist zwar der Diesel VW Scirocco eher schwer zu bewegen, bedingt durch sein hohes Eigengewicht von 1200 kg, aber der 23 jährige VW Pilot prügelte den Fronttriebler inmitten der Allradfahrzeuge zu Spitzenzeiten. Nach 2 Sonderprüfungsbestzeiten gleich nach Beginn der Schneerallye, führte man sogar überraschenderweise in der 2 WD Wertung.
Gleich ab der 1. Sonderprüfung zeigte er mit Gesamtrang 6, dass er sich nun auch an das neu eingesetzte VW Golf IV Kitcar gewöhnt hatte. Es folgten 5 Sonderprüfungsbestzeiten in der 2 WD Wertung und mit dem 8. Gesamtrang steuerte der VW Rallyepilot auf seinen ersten 2 WD Sieg zu.
